About Us: GCCM Owned By Non-Profit Advocacy Groups

At Green Century Capital Management (GCCM), concern for the environment is not just something we do, it's who we are. GCCM, founded in 1991, is wholly owned by non-profit advocacy groups.

100% of the profits earned by GCCM on the fees it receives for managing the Funds belong to its non-profit advocacy group owners, and are available for use in efforts to support clean air, clean water and open spaces.

The organizations that own Green Century Capital Management are: California Public Interest Research Group (CALPIRG), Citizen Lobby of New Jersey, Colorado Public Interest Research Group (COPIRG), ConnPIRG Citizen Lobby, Fund for Public Interest Research, Massachusetts Public Interest Research Group (MASSPIRG), MOPIRG Citizen Organization, PIRGIM Public Interest Lobby, and Washington State Public Interest Research Group (WASHPIRG).

Several of GCCM's owners are part of a group of non-profits generally referred to as the "State PIRGs." The State PIRGs are a national network of state-based non-partisan, non-profit organizations that advocate for the public interest. When the environment is being threatened, consumers are being mistreated, and our democracy is potentially being corrupted, the State PIRGs speak out and work to make change happen. Using time-tested strategies of research, lobbying, organizing and outreach, the PIRGs have won significant victories over the past three decades.

30 Years of Action in the Public Interest
Founded by students around the country in the early 1970's, the State PIRGs have grown into some of the leading public interest organizations in the country. Click below for more information on a few select examples of how GCCM's owners are making a difference for the environment.
