There are two main types of companies that the Green Century Funds (the "Funds") invest in: environmental innovators and sector leaders.
Companies in the first category are in the business of solving today's most pressing environmental problems, companies whose very goods or services are directly contributing to a more sustainable future. Environmental innovators can be found in many industry sectors, including:

- Renewable energy and energy efficiency
- Water treatment and conservation
- Air pollution control & prevention
- Recycling technologies
The Funds also invest in companies that have a demonstrated record of positive environmental performance. These 'sectors leaders' openly disclose their business practices, policies, and performance as they pertain to the environment and respond positively to shareholder advocacy on environmental issues.
