Food and Agriculture

Food production in the United States has been industrialized, a development with significant implications for the ecological well-being of our food systems, crops, animals, and people.  Green Century is working to promote healthy food and sustainable farming practices and to keep genetically-modified organisms (GMOs) out of our food.

2009-2010 Issue:

  • Sustainable Agriculture - Purchasing locally grown, sustainable food eliminates or reduces many of the environmental impacts associated with industrial agriculture and creates a market for local, sustainable farmers.  We will work with companies to encourage the adoption of sustainable sourcing policies that include a commitment to organic and locally-grown foods.
