Protecting Indonesia’s Tropical Rainforests

Green Century has spent more than a decade working to protect Indonesia’s tropical rainforests and endangered wildlife – including orangutans, Sumatran tigers and Javan rhinoceros – from deforestation driven primarily by palm oil production, the world’s most widely used vegetable oil.

Annie Sanders, Green Century’s director of shareholder advocacy, traveled to Jakarta and Borneo in August and February. Her trips included discussions with Indonesian leaders, companies and other stakeholders, sharing Green Century’s perspective that protecting forests helps protect value for firms invested in Indonesia and in companies that source from Indonesia.
