The Shopping Bag Slogan Reimagined – What’s Not in Your Fund

If you have been to Whole Foods* lately, you may have noticed the slogan emblazoned on their grocery bags that say, “It’s What’s Not in the Bag.” – and likely you felt better about your groceries as you envisioned the healthy, pesticide-free or, maybe, even the organic food that you are bringing home.

Feeling good about your purchases is a motivating force and one I believe that you may already doing by investing in or exploring the Green Century Funds.

For the last 35 years, offering individuals and institutions opportunities to invest in the market without supporting the worst environmental offenders has been core to our mission. That’s why you don’t find dirty coal producers, Big Tobacco companies or radioactive waste resulting from polluting nuclear power reactors in any of our funds.

This approach allows investors to invest with a clear conscience; generates profits for environmental advocacy by nonprofits instead of Wall Street corporations; and is enhanced by our shareholder advocacy program that works with companies to improve their environmental policies.

We don’t want you to have to try to decipher what the vague assertions about being “responsible,” “sustainable” or using “ESG” means. We strive to be transparent, clear, and accountable so you know “What’s Not in Your Fund.”

Thank you for your trust in us.
